Crafty Monkey

Sarcar’s master artisans pander to the tastes of the Far East where the monkey is believed to possess qualities that can help revive a weakening economy. With the Swiss watch industry sales taking a nosedive, this seems like a well thought out plan! The crafty monkey is acknowledged to be an intelligent and witty creature and an opportunist at that.

This timepiece is an extension of the Magic Moon Auto collection from Sarcar and now includes the Monkey on the dial. The watch features a diamond-set white gold case, with the monkey in pink gold adorned with splendid Cognac coloured diamonds with its two eyes in black diamonds and holding a micro-painted peach resting on a micro-painted green leaf. It is indeed a timepiece which will draw much amusement and attention.

Named La Magic Moon Monkey, the watch features a Frédéric Piguet automatic movement. The watch diameter is a modest 38 mm. 536 white Diamonds of 4.82cts; 133 cognac Diamonds of 0.62ct were used in adorning the watch. The watch strap is made from crocodile leather, with a gold buckle and a folding clasp set with Diamonds.

The brand was established in Geneva in 1948 by Carlos Sarzano, a watch enthusiast and well-respected figure in the watch industry. Prior to starting the brand, Sarzano worked for a number reputable Swiss watch brands, representing them in Spain and Italy.

Two decades earlier, during the course of his work, Sarzano chanced upon a watch facility that was put up for sale. He promptly acquired the factory with the intention of starting his own brand.

Sarzano eventually started Ssarcar with the vision to create luxury timepieces, which combine the exquisite and precious stones with innovative designs and top-quality craftsmanship. He also emphasized on the importance of creative autonomy, famously proclaiming that the company must always be “large enough to be strong, yet small enough to be free”.
