1931 Spirit

Louis Erard reintroduces the small second just months after revisiting the original a first time, it returns with yet another interpretation. The 1931 spirit remains intact; the innovation lies with the dials, though without straying from the original design. This time the dial is black, grey or blue in head-to-toe monochrome.

Twelve rounded Arabic numerals set the tempo for silvered hands, driven by an automatic caliber whose oscillating weight comes decorated for the occasion. Then as now, sobriety is the key. One frivolous touch in the small seconds, offsets at 9 o’clock in the subdial. Despite its vintage lineage, these small seconds are very much part of the moment. Only 500 of the black iteration will be made, each individually numbered and delivered in a unique presentation box with a Montegrappa pen.

The watch features a Vintage small second mechanical automatic movement, Sellita SW-290 caliber with decorated oscillating weight. The watch has a 40 mm stainless steel case and is water-resistant to 50 meters.

Louis Erard sets time in motion. At the heart of this process to capture the mechanics of time is the movement. Revisited, personalized, even exclusive, it is the crux of each of its creations. We feel it, wind it, and set it beating. More than a machine, it is the soul of the watch.

With a particular fondness for regulators, the Watchmaker returns to complications, finding new ways to express each one. Power Reserve Regulators, Chrono Moon Phases and other sophisticated Chronos benefit from the virtuoso’s care and attention, and from made-to-measure modules which it develops in Le Noirmont. These feats of technique bring dazzling proof of Louis Erard’s talent and enable the brand to express itself as a Manufacture, for eight years already.

These instruments of time are part of the Excellence flagship collection, which superbly illustrates this interpretation of complications by Louis Erard in a unity of style whose exclusive, authentic elegance embodies the delicate pairing of tradition and modernity. And, through mechanical emancipation, indicates unfailing admiration for traditional watchmaking, which prospered in the Swiss Jura and continues to confirm its renown thanks to creators who dare to be themselves.
