is more brittle than glass, so when a watch maker decides to use a case made from a mono-bloc sapphire crystal – it adds an allure of transparency to the watch.
To make things even more intricate watch brand N4 has created an intricate watch called the 4N sapphire planet in which time is displayed in a digital manner utilizing four mechanical discs. The watch is made up of 514 components and the transparency allows for the complexity of the watch movement to be in full display. The watch is produced in a limited edition of 3 pieces and is priced at just over $300,000.
