Art Blakey Limited Edition

Oris returns to its long-running series of jazz watches with a piece inspired by the American jazz drummer and bandleader Art Blakey. Art was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1919, and made his name in the 1940s and 1950s playing alongside fellow icons of jazz Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, all of whom Oris has previously celebrated with limited edition watches.

In the 1950s, Art formed the Jazz Messengers and would go on to play with them for more than three decades. He died in 1990 and won a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005. The Art Blakey Limited, which is a time-only automatic, features a dial decorated with the eight claws from Art’s bass drum, and a case back with a cymbal inlay. The watch is limited to 1,000 pieces.

Limited to 1,000 pieces, the watch case features a multi-piece stainless steel case measuring Size 38.00 mm in diameter and is covered with a top glass sapphire that is domed on both sides and has an anti-reflective coating inside. The watch is water resistant to 30 meters and has a 38 hours power reserve.

For over 100 years Oris has been making watches in Switzerland. Their watches are purely mechanical and are marked out by their distinctive design as well as the red rotor, the symbol of Oris mechanicals. Oris watches are also popular, as celebrities from Formula One, diving, jazz and aviation queue up to wear and support their unique creations.

Oris is one of a small handful of Swiss watch brands that makes only mechanical watches. A mechanical watch is a thing of beauty, designed according to principles that have been around for generations and will continue long into the future.

An Oris watch is an item built to last and provide a lifetime of enjoyment. The Swiss Made brand is protected by law and serves as a guarantee of quality. All Oris watches are Swiss Made and quality controlled to the highest standards throughout the manufacturing process.

The Red Rotor is a trademarked symbol of Oris’s High-Mech approach to watchmaking. Whenever you see the Red Rotor, you can be sure it’s inside a genuine, sensibly priced Oris watch that’s innovative, functional and designed to bring many years of pleasure.

Oris is an independent company, which means its values are in safe hands. It also means they are efficient and free to innovate and explore useful functions and features that customers want and need.
