EXTRAORDINARY BEAUTY

Since 1773, time has taken its course at Urban Jurgensen, shaped by virtuoso craftsmen and women into creations of extraordinary beauty and precision. Proposed as a 30-piece limited series, the new Reference 1140 PT Blue is no exception. Its apparent simplicity hides a wealth of expertise, brought to bear as tradition demands, patiently and without haste.

Each dial is the result of more than 700 separate stages; the guillochage alone takes two days to complete. The hands, which are also manually crafted, require the utmost precision down to the final polishing. Inspired by Urban Jurgensen’s historic pocket watches, the large Arabic numerals in white gold call on skills that have all but disappeared.

All these elements reside inside a platinum case, at the heart of which beats the P4 caliber. That too is manufactured in Urban Jurgensen’s own workshops, where tranquillity reigns. The mechanical movement is hand-wound and features a Swiss lever escapement, stop seconds, twin barrels, and a 72-hour power reserve with hours, minutes and seconds functions.

The case measures a 40 mm diameter and is made of platinum and features a convex bezel with drop-shaped lugs. A domed sapphire crystal covers the watch face and case back and the watch is water-resistant to 30 meters. The dial is hand-guilloche with Barleycorn and Chequerboard motifs on a blue-tinted silver plate. The watch is fitted with a semi-matte finished blue alligator leather strap with a platinum folding clasp.
