Grand Ocean Automatic

The spirit of the sea lives on in the Grand Ocean Automatic from boutique Swiss watchmaker Edox. An independent family-owned company, Edox has a history of making superb sports watches, especially those for the worlds of sailing and diving, and the Grand Ocean Automatic adds another exceptional timepiece to that creative standard.

This sporty watch has a diameter measuring 41mm that is ideally suited to ocean-based pastimes but is equally at home being worn in the office or as the perfect leisure companion. The Grand Ocean Automatic is powered by an automatic movement and presents a beautiful uncomplicated face with a day/date display at 3 o’clock on the dial.

The ratcheted unidirectional diver’s bezel, an excellent water resistance rating of 300 meters, plus the natural rubber strap, all bear testament to the Grand Ocean Automatic’s sea-going capabilities. With its PVD-coated stainless steel case and bezel, the Grand Ocean Automatic is tough enough to cope with whatever the elements or life throw at it.

Since its founding in 1884, Edox has been a leading watchmaker, introducing many timekeeping innovations. It is the Official Timekeeper of the Dakar Rally, Extreme Sailing Series and World Curling Federation.

The 128 years of Edox’s existence have been studded with success and horological inventions, some of which remain unrivalled even to this day. In 1983, in the face of a watchmaking crisis, Victor Strambini took over Edox and decided to relocate the company to Les Genevez, in the heart of the Swiss Jura Mountains. Later, in 1988, Edox achieved major success with the famous Les Bémonts Ultra Slim, an ultra-slim calendar watch featuring a movement that was scarcely 1.4 mm thick.

In 2006, Edox launched a collection of sports watches, water-resistant to 500 meters and incorporating materials derived from aerospace research, such as titanium, carbon and ceramic. Edox’s passion for technical perfection quite naturally led the company into the world of nautical sports, initially involving luxury boats, and later powerboats. Since its establishment, Edox has had a very clear vision of its growth and development thanks to truly innovative ideas and ceaseless design research, while at the same time maintaining the classic traditions of watchmaking know-how.
