A Legend is Reborn

For more almost six decades, the powerful allure and technical performance of Corum’s symbolic Admiral’s Cup collection has encapsulated the historic link between the Swiss watch making brand and sailing. In 2016, a legend is reborn as this iconic sporting timepiece is enhanced with a complication preferred by the long distance traveler: World-Time.

Powerful and elegant, the new Admiral’s Cup Legend 47 Worldtimer is equipped with an automatic caliber which, apart from the hours, minutes and seconds, displays a second time zone and the corresponding city. Its strong case, 47 mm in diameter and mounted with a distinctive twelve-sided bezel, is available in titanium or titanium and rose gold, while the painted black dial, which also comes in smoked sapphire crystal in the bi-color version, comes to life with large luminescent hands and the famous nautical pennants, for optimal readability anywhere in the world.

Created almost 60 years ago, the Admiral’s Cup range has become a veritable cornerstone of Corum. Its strong aesthetic and emblematic conventions express an elegant yet sporty personality, born of the brand’s passion for the sea and for yachting. The distinctive twelve-sided case and the colorful nautical pennants which adorn the dial create a strong, contemporary look, which is a signature of the collection. A fresh arrival to this iconic family, the Admiral’s Cup Legend 47 Worldtimer, with its world-time function, is the ideal companion for navigators and long distance travelers.

The ultimate traveler’s watch, the Admiral’s Cup Legend 47 Worldtimer is available in two models vying for the top spot for their style, luxury and technical prowess. Its robust case, 47 mm in diameter, waterproof to 100 meters, is worked from titanium in the first model, while the bi-color version blends the metallic brilliance of this ultra-light material with the warmth of rose gold on the twelve-sided bezel.

The case is structured with layers opening onto a matte black dial punctuated by pennant markers, luminescent Dauphine hands and a skeleton second hand providing perfect visibility in all circumstances. The bi-color model features a smoked sapphire crystal dial, which provides a glimpse of the working parts of its mechanical heart.

In perfect contrast, the open bottom of the dial is equipped with smoked sapphire crystal engraved with the names of cities in 24 time zones as well as their abbreviations. As a result one can admire the CO376 caliber, its bars echoing a dodecagon and its openwork oscillating weight. Beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, for a power-reserve of 48 hours, this automatically-winding watch includes functions for the hour, minute, and second, as well as a second time zone and city indicators. Selecting the time zone is particularly easy, via the crown situated at 2 o’clock pressing on the pusher at 2 o’clock allows the hour hand to jump forward. A black vulcanized rubber strap featuring a tri-fold clasp adds the finishing touch to the technical and distinguished elegance of these two models with hints of adventure and escape.
